Weekly Q&A for all members of the Community. This is your chance to ask any questions: nutrition, stress, sleep, or anything you are struggling with.

Weight loss is based on simple principles, but takes hard work to achieve!

Adding the complexities of TTC and IVF to the mix is A LOT! I get it, I’ve been there myself.

Not being accepted for NHS funding, not making the NHS waiting list, and having treatment postponed because of your BMI is soul-destroying!

fad diets will get you nowhere

I was so shocked when I was advised to “just do a crash diet”, without further explanation or context. Since then I have spoken to so many people who experienced similar situations often being told to “just lose weight” without further context or advice.

Sound familiar?

My story

I decreased my BMI from 33 to 29 and made the NHS waiting list in October 2021.

It wasn’t straightforward, I even failed my first weigh-in, because I got my height wrong (measure your height!!). I was devastated!

During this entire time, I didn’t want to put my life on hold. I still went on holiday, ate out and socialised with friends. I knew to focus on the aspects that mattered the most when trying to lose weight, which made it so much more manageable alongside a busy life.

Finally, I heard the magic words: “your numbers are looking good”…tbh I expected a bit more cheer considering what a big deal this was, but oh well - we move!

Fast-forward through more ups and downs that often made it a challenge to maintain my weight loss, we finally got to transfer a frozen embryo in January 2023, which turned into our lovely daughter!
